Volunteer

 

There are many opportunities to get involved with GMEF!  Please see below what roles you might be able to fill; we are a parent run, volunteer organization, and need your help!

GMEF Executive Board

President – Tammy Wilhelm, Shelly Wines- Sets goals and executes GMEF strategy; oversees Board meetings; attends annual calendar meeting (see also bylaws)

Vice President – Sheila Garber, Melanie Staus- Assists President in duties mentioned above (see bylaws)

Secretary –Cyndi Walsh- Draft & distribute meeting minutes; maintain record book; send out mailings (e.g. new family letters) (see also bylaws)

Treasurer – Emily Allen- Budget oversight & reporting; distribute/collect/review/present Funding Requests; provide tax receipts (see also bylaws)

Coordinators & Committee Chairs

FEAST Coordinator –Ginna Cheever- establish key relationships with the contacts for the after school programs. Handle any logistics needed to make sure programs are running smoothly

Business Development & Fundraising-Melinda McGuire- Sets goals and executes strategy for fundraising efforts, drafts and distributes annual fund letter, identifies and secures corporate matches

Needs Assistance with:

  • Soliciting local merchants donations and sponsorship packages

  • Executing the Annual Fund Campaign

  • Grant Writing

Marketing & Communications—Curi Ahrens- Sets goals and executes strategy for GMEF communications to key stakeholders; creates/update logos, hard copy materials; identifies and secures promotional products; centralizes email distribution lists  (teachers, parents, corporate sponsors, volunteers), develops and distributes content for monthly newsletters

Needs Assistance with:

  • Designing and maintaining GMEF bulletin board

  • Maintaining GMEF website

  • Overseeing GMEF social media presence

  • Surveying/assessing/reporting GMEF efforts to key stakeholders

 

Community Outreach

Chair: TBD

Sets goals and executes strategies for community outreach efforts

Needs Assistance with:

  • Researching educational opportunities for field trips and in school programs (e.g. Civic War Re-enactment)

  • Maintaining Community Garden and coordinating Garden Work Day

  • Recruiting volunteers and maintaining volunteer database and needs

  • Securing and maintaining correspondence with Teacher Representatives

Hospitality

Chair: TBD

Sets goals and executes strategies for community outreach efforts

Needs Assistance with:

  • Coordinate GMEF representation at spring Kindergarten orientation & fall Sneak a Peak

  • Coordinate Science Lab efforts & coordinates instructors’ teacher appreciation efforts (birthday, holidays, staff appreciation week)

  • Coordinate the staff end of the year luncheon, make care packages for teachers in need, order teacher appreciation plaque, send thank you notes to guest speakers, trainers, corporations, etc.

Programming

Sets goals and executes strategies for community outreach efforts

Needs Assistance with:

  • Organize Annual Science Fair

  • Organize Classroom Parties for Winners of Annual Fund Competition

  • Organize Additional Fundraising Efforts (e.g. Silent Auction, Teacher Treasures Activities)

Teacher Representatives

Provides Executive Board of Directors and parents with insight and firsthand knowledge about what’s happening within the classroom and the School.  Makes recommendations on funding requests and are voting members of the Board of Directors
